We welcome our friends and neighbors to these regular, free community offerings at Chinook.
In addition, our trails are open to the public most days from dawn until dusk. Out of respect for the wildlife who call Chinook home, we ask that you limit trail use to human pedestrians only. We also invite you to watch our calendar for community concerts, celebrations, festivals, and potlucks throughout the year.
The Institute offers an ongoing opportunity to slow down, be with our breath and find greater peace and acceptance through the gift of meditation.
Every month, from 7 to 8:30 pm on the first Tuesday of the month, join Howard Aposhyan and other members of the community in the sacred space of our Sanctuary for a time of Shamatha (“calm-abiding”) and Vipassana (“insight”) meditation practice.
Every Thursday during the growing season, join us in the garden starting at 9 am for a community Westgarden Work Party! Feel free to come and stay all day, or for whichever part of the day is most convenient. You’ll have the opportunity to learn about small scale gardening, spend time in a beautiful and peaceful garden, meet some great people and help grow food for your community! We serve a simple lunch—often soup, bread, and fresh veggies from the garden—at noon.
