Teaching in an Age of Climate Consequences

June 20, 2017 @ 9:30 am - 4:00 pm

Working Meeting of the Teaching in an Age of Climate Consequences Faculty Learning Community

This is a reconvening of an existing faculty learning community, closed to new enrollment.

Teaching in an Age of Climate Consequences emphasizes reflective and contemplative practices as a promising strategy for strengthening the ways we teach our students about climate change. Our faculty learning community is emphasizing several broad themes, including:

  • exploring ways to engage and support students’ emotional responses to the climate crisis
  • helping students move more deeply into its complexity and questions
  • raising and working with the moral issues that climate change prompts
  • searching for ways to have and build a sense of hope and resolve going forward
  • developing ways to inquire with our students about their responses to learning about climate change
