“Part of the Whidbey Institute’s path is to help people find their own authentic center point, the place in themselves where they are able to be at ease, to be resilient, to be flexible, and to be at peace.” —Joel Shrut

Interrupting racism support group

October 9 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

|Recurring Event (See all)

An event every month that begins at 6:00pm on day Second of the month, repeating until December 11, 2018

Free

This is a recurring drop-in support group to strengthen awareness about racism and intervention skills in both interpersonal and institutional settings.  Open to persons at all levels of awareness and experience who are interested in identifying and intervening in racist situations.  Given that conversation may include addressing very basic issues about racism, it may be most relevant to white persons seeking awareness, education and action skills.

Though everyone is welcome, persons of color may find the monthly Black, Indigenous, People of Color Circle at Healing Circles Langley, led by Rose Homme, 360-221-4101, a better fit.

Support group facilitated by James DeLong, Janet Staub, and possibly other facilitators.  To learn more about the content and process of this drop-in group, please email James DeLong at delongj@uw.edu or call him at 206-465-9507.

RSVPs are appreciated. Please write to info@whidbeyinstitute.org to let us know if you plan to attend!
