Examples of what we may explore
Shadow and Projection: That which we often keep hidden from ourselves and others, and project onto others.
Basic Goodness: What can we reclaim to better support our knowing of ourselves as basically good, and whole.
Attention: Essential to presence and our moment to moment experience of life. How well do we harness attention and use it for good?
Clarity of Values and Purpose: There’s great value in aligning our compassion with what matters most, and a dissonance when we’re too far off course. We’ll explore how to integrate some degree of clarity and knowing into daily practice.

Join us at the Whidbey Institute for Monday evening sessions with Dan McKee. Each will be a mini-workshop, where we’ll integrate a guided meditation inspired by LovingKindness or Metta meditation with self-exploration, sharing, and exercises around things that either get in the way of or help liberate our better and more compassionate selves.
Taking inspiration from traditional Loving kindness meditation as well as other styles, we’ll work to cultivate our capacity for greater compassion towards ourselves and others. The intention is to provide solid and practical strengthening to what can be an aspirational pursuit. We’ll accomplish this by using the compassion and power of the circle, and by not taking ourselves too seriously.
Each session runs from 6:45 pm to 9 pm, and admission is by donation. All contributions will support participants in an upcoming Leadership and Self-knowing Summit for 16 to 35 year olds.
Participants may attend one or all evening sessions. If desired, we’ll explore the possibility as a group of supporting one another in cultivating daily, personal practices.
ABOUT DAN MCKEE
Dan McKee founded Awakening Life, leads the Warrior Monk training, and has led retreats and workshops on mindfulness and leadership internationally for twenty years. He brings an extensive background as student, teacher and leader in many personal growth models and traditions; spiritual, philosophical and experiential psychology.
His focus and gift is in creating a grounded learning environment rich in compassion, awareness, safety and humor.
