Sunday Afternoon, July 23 – Sunday Morning, July 30, 2017

Registration is now open for the Tai Chi Foundation’s 2017 US Summer Training, our sixth at the Whidbey Institute on Whidbey Island near Seattle, Washington. All students, from beginners through our most advanced, are welcome.

General information about the location, food, travel, registration and weather is below. You are welcome to contact davidgoodell@earthlink.net with any additional questions you may have.  Have a look at a slideshow from a past training on Whidbey to get a feel for the place and activities.

Every year over the past five summers the people, the Tai Chi, the food, venue and weather at Whidbey have been extraordinary. We hope that you will join us this summer!

When:  Arrive in the afternoon on Sunday, July 23 for check-in. Check out is 11am Sunday, July 30.

The training ends late afternoon on Saturday, July 29. The End of Training Party will be Saturday evening. Breakfast on check out day is included in the meal plan.

Housing:  The options for lodging include shared rooms, private rooms, cabins, and camping at a Whidbey Institute campsite.  Most rooms and cabins are shared.  Accommodations will be assigned on a first-come-first-serve basis.

All beds, whether in a cabin, shared room, or private room, are $400 per person for the week.

Camping in a tent is free (no camping vehicles please).

Transportation:  In non-rush hour traffic Whidbey Institute is about 90 minutes northwest of Seattle, WA, by car and ferry. However, there can be a wait time of two hours or more to board the ferry in the summer months.

If you are flying into and out of Seattle Tacoma International Airport, I recommend that you take the SeaTac shuttle. It has priority boarding onto the ferry, so travel times are much more reliable.  We will arrange to pick you up from the shuttle drop site on Whidbey Island.

Meals:  The Whidbey Institute is known for its excellent, locally sourced food. Much of it organically grown in their own garden, all of it is prepared in-house by their expert staff.

Full Meal Plan includes Dinner July 23 – Breakfast July 30  $464

Breakfast only July 24 – 30  $110

Lunches only July 24 – 29  $121

Dinners only July 23 – 29  $242

Cost:  Tuition is $800. An early registration discount for Tai Chi Foundation Members is available through April 15. Meals and lodging are additional.

Registration Deadline: Proper planning and staffing requires knowing who is coming in advance.  Please register by June 15, 2017.  Late registration fee of $150 will apply for registrations received after that date.

Cancellation Policy: Cancellations received through June 15 will receive a full refund. Cancellations after June 15 will receive a refund less a $300 cancellation fee.
