Join incredible facilitators Kamilla Kafiyeva and Barbara Jefferson for a unique opportunity to Spark your Creativity and Advance Social Change in your Community!
About Y-WE Create: This week long residential camp empowers young women to create anything they can imagine from visual art and fashion design to performance and dance. Participants will work with professional seamstresses, designers, and facilitators. They’ll explore issues such as sustainable fashion and consumer supply chains, community organizing, and art as activism.
Food and Lodging: We will enjoy healthy, delicious, organic meals prepared with produce grown on site. Participants will be camping. Gear will be provided for those who need it.
What to expect: Camp is a balance of indoor and outdoor workshops, with whole group plenary discussions, small group experiential activities, nature walks, and art making. The days are long and fun with lots of opportunities to make new friends, build new skills and explore your creativity.
Mentorship: All Y-WE programs have an adult mentorship component. The ratio is one mentor per two participants and they attend the activities in a group all together. We find this to be a fun, low pressure way for adults and youth to mingle and get to know one another organically.
How many people will be there? We will cap participation at 30 youth.
Cost: As a part of our partnership with foundry10, participants will not be charged tuition. Participants and Families are welcome to make donations to Y-WE if they so choose.
