Y-WE Write Summer 2016 Residential Camp for young women, ages 14 through 19.
Y-WE & Hedgebrook team up again for an amazing leadership and creative writing summer camp. This 5-day exploration of young women’s voices, stories, dreams and talents is sure to ignite your spirit. This camp is unlike any other. No writing or performing experience necessary!

At the camp you will get to:

  • Hang out with awesome diverse girls and women.
  • Meet dedicated mentors who will inspire.
  • Work with professional spoken word artists, poets novelists, song-writers, and more.
  • Develop your unique voice, literacy skills and talents.
  • Explore the natural world.
  • Set and meet goals for your future.
  • Learn leadership skills.
  • Relax, eat delicious food, and make new friends!


Hedgebrook Teaching Artists:
 

Karen Finneyfrock is a poet, novelist and teaching artist in Seattle, WA. She is the author of two young adult novels: The Sweet Revenge of Celia Door and Starbird Murphy and the World Outside, both published by Viking Children’s Books.

Anastacia-Renee Tolbert is a queer super-shero of color moonlighting as a writer, performance artist and creative writing workshop facilitator. She has received awards and fellowships from Cave Canem, Hedgebrook, VONA, Jacks Straw, Ragdale and Artist Trust Edge program.

Shontina Vernon is a playwright, musician, performer and teaching artist. Her passion is writing interdisciplinary performance pieces that fuse live music, poetic narrative and mulit-media to tell the diverse stories of underrepresented communities.
