“At the Whidbey Institute, our journey is a microcosm of the larger human experience. As the global human story evolves, so does ours here.”

Who We Serve

Our Whidbey Island campus, one hour north of Seattle, has served as a home for transformational learning since 1972. Our location supports an engaged,  vibrant local community with a cultural and learning hub; invites a growing urban population looking for nature connection and contemplative space; and lets us partner with a vibrant network of program leaders working in the areas of leadership development, ecosystem vitality, community resilience, and more.

We exist for those who sense the urgency and responsibility of our time and feel called to respond.

Bring Your Work

Visit our Program Inquiry form to learn about holding your purpose-aligned work here. Options include day-use of Storyhouse and multi-day workshops, conferences and retreats in the Heartland.

Get Involved

Whether you’d like to walk on our 100-acre public-access trail network or volunteer in the offices or on the land, we’d love to have you get involved!

“The work of maturing ourselves, our structures, and the cultures into which we invite new generations is urgent and ongoing. This is big work, and it requires all of us.”
