Earth: This Being Human

March 12, 2024

Portland Eurythmy presents a poetic and musical exploration into the connection between the earth and our humanity.

Featuring the works of Rumi, Frederic Chopin, Opal Whitley, and Walt Whitman.

Earth: Being Human takes you on a poetic and musical journey that opens up worlds of tenderness, connection and wonder to what is outside and inside of us. Through our work with Earth, we have come closer to our own humanity and the connection that we have with everyone.

As you watch and listen, imagine that the sounds you hear flow through movements of the eurythmists and their veils billowing in the space around them. Notice how this dynamic art harmonizes what you see and hear with what lives inside of you.

Performance brought to you by Portland Eurythmy and Pacific Eurythmy.

Portland Eurythmy is the collaborative effort of six local eurythmists, a pianist and a speaker who have come together to create performances through the art of eurythmy, a gestural language that brings a living expression to sound and tone and fills the dynamic space between performers and audience.

Pacific Eurythmy is a eurythmy training initiative inPortland, Oregon. This initiative is an opportunity for the student to dive deeply into Eurythmy through a multi-faceted curriculum designed to connect the student to the artistry that lives in them.
